Cardio-Oncology Working Group

The mission of the Cardio-Oncology Working Group is to create a unique multidisciplinary group to foster a collaborative environment between researchers and clinicians who are interested in the field of cardio-oncology (cardiotoxicity of anticancer therapies) to improve the outcomes of cancer patients. The objectives of this working group are to advance cardio-oncology through basic and translational research and to foster early-career investigators.

Current areas of interest include:

  • Anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy
  • Proteasome inhibitor-related cardiotoxicity
  • Radiation therapy-related cardiotoxicity
  • Immune checkpoint inhibitor-related cardiotoxicities
  • Exercise intervention in cancer patients
  • Disparities in cardiotoxicity in cancer patients
  • Cardioprotective agents
  • Genetics of cardio-oncology

Meeting agenda items will vary and can include:

  • Presenting results of studies
  • Presentation and discussion of recent publications in the field
  • Identification of collaborators
  • Discussion to create additional collaborative grant applications
  • Presentation of early-stage ideas for feedback
  • Discussion to help strengthen proposals before submission to funding agencies
  • Presentation by an outside expert
