The mission of the Cardio-Oncology Working Group is to create a unique multidisciplinary group to foster a collaborative environment between researchers and clinicians who are interested in the field of cardio-oncology (cardiotoxicity of anticancer therapies) to improve the outcomes of cancer patients. The objectives of this working group are to advance cardio-oncology through basic and translational research and to foster early-career investigators.
Current areas of interest include:
- Anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy
- Proteasome inhibitor-related cardiotoxicity
- Radiation therapy-related cardiotoxicity
- Immune checkpoint inhibitor-related cardiotoxicities
- Exercise intervention in cancer patients
- Disparities in cardiotoxicity in cancer patients
- Cardioprotective agents
- Genetics of cardio-oncology
Meeting agenda items will vary and can include:
- Presenting results of studies
- Presentation and discussion of recent publications in the field
- Identification of collaborators
- Discussion to create additional collaborative grant applications
- Presentation of early-stage ideas for feedback
- Discussion to help strengthen proposals before submission to funding agencies
- Presentation by an outside expert
