Will any application materials be accepted after the February 9, 2024 deadline?
No. To be considered for the UF Health Cancer Center’s University Scholars Program, applicants must submit all required application materials — including letter(s) of recommendation — by February 9, 2024.
Who is considered UF Faculty?
A UF Faculty is anyone appointed at the University of Florida to the varying levels of Professorship (i.e., Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, etc.)
Who can provide a letter of recommendation if I don’t know a UF Faculty?
This letter should be provided by a professor, teacher, advisor, or supervisor (not a graduate student/assistant, friend, or family member), who can positively reference your character and suitability for this program.
Will my mentor be contacted after I have submitted my application?
Yes. After you submit your application your mentors will receive an automatic email requesting to send in their letter of recommendation.
If my mentor sends in their letter of recommendation after the deadline, will my application still be considered?
No. Your letter(s) of recommendation should be received before the deadline.
My mentor wants to submit their letter(s) of recommendation before I submit my application. Is this okay?
Yes, your mentor is welcome to submit their letter of recommendation at any time before the application deadline. However, please let them know that they will receive an automated email when you submit your application. If they have already submitted their letter and received an email of confirmation, they can disregard the automated email.
When will I know if I’m accepted?
We will notify selected applicants and provide additional information on the program by early March.
Can I apply for more than one opportunity within the University Scholars Program?
Yes, you may apply for USP opportunities with multiple colleges. However, you will only be allowed to participate in one program per academic year.
If I am selected as a University Scholar, am I eligible to re-apply the following year?
Unfortunately, no. However, you may apply to other University Scholar opportunities outside the UF Health Cancer Center.
If I am not selected as a University Scholar, am I eligible to re-apply the following year?
Yes! Our program is very competitive – if you are not selected initially, we encourage you to reapply the following year if you still meet the eligibility requirements.
